Hey everyone, buckle your seat belts, I have some crazy news. Well, actually, I don't know how crazy this is these days considering everyone and their grandmother is being optioned for a film in the comics world. But anyway, following just about every other comic, "The Eternal Smile" has just been optioned for a film!Apparently Gene's agent had been shopping the book around Hollywood and the rights were snapped up by Blinding Edge Pictures. Ready for the twist? Blinding Edge Pictures is the production company of none other than... M. Night Shyamalan!! Life is funny sometimes. Now before you start bitching, I just want to say I have great faith in Mr. Shyamalan. Despite my disappointment in his casting decisions (if they were his decisions) on "The Last Airbender," I have faith in his considerable directional skills, and I actually think he's well suited for "The Eternal Smile." Needless to say, Gene and I are nervous, but we're really excited at the same time.As for casting, nothing has been confirmed yet, but apparently Kevin Jonas, (yes, one of the Jonas Brothers) is leading the running to play Duncan from "Duncan's Kingdom." I guess he looks the part, but I have to admit, I have no idea regarding his acting chops as I've never seen "Hannah Montana." I guess I shouldn't judge before I see him in the part? What do you guys think? Any casting suggestions?
NOTE: In case it wasn't obvious, this was an April Fool's Day joke. I've had multiple interviewers ask me about this as if it was real. Sigh.
