In case you didn't know, it's been made into a movie once already, and if you speak Swedish, that's awesome. If not, however, the American/ British version of the film is coming out next year. I am here today to share my thoughts on the cast of characters.
Mikael Blomkvist is the main character (NOT the girl with the dragon tattoo, as you might expect). He's a condemned journalist; convicted of libel. He takes on a crazy investigative job in an attempt to clear his name and gain access to a source that will exonerate him. He's intelligent and is often referred to as "practical pig" (you know, from the children's story

Right?
Now, the book's namesake, Lisbeth Salander. She's teeny tiny, angry, introverted and diagnosed with a myriad of psychological problems. She's always wearing black and leather, and this is exactly what I pictured:
That's the original character from the Swedish film. And it makes you wonder how Rooney Mara could possibly be the girl they picked:

Blomkvist's long time married lover is Erika Berger. She's something of a heavyweight in the journalism industry, and she's (obviously) a free spirit, and married to a famous artist. I didn't picture an actual actress, but if I had, it would have been Robin Wright. She's perfect. I cannot, absolutely cannot argue with this choice.

I cannot talk about Martin Vanger or Henrik Vanger or Anita Vanger without posting some major spoilers, so I will leave it at this: Stellan Skarsgard and Christopher Plummer and Joely Richardson are absolutely divine choices for these parts. If you disgaree, feel free to talk about it in the comments, if you want to remain entirely spoiler free, then be careful in the comments section, folks.
I'm pretty excited about this movie, except for the fact that I just KNOW they are going to make it rated R. It's definitely possible for them to gloss over the violence and make it PG-13, but I just don't think they're going to. So, I'll let you know what I think in about three years when this is on USA or TNT or something.
Please post your ideas in the comments- whether you agree with me or not!
