Yesterday was my 20th birthday. To celebrate my maturity my father took me some where that would seal me as an adult........a Jonas Brother's Concert. Yes thats right. I went to the Mecca of Jr. High worship. I knew about it for a few weeks. To be honest I am actually the one who suggested I go. You See I am a Jr High leader at my church and I got free tickets because my dad has a business box. It was free and I could not pass up the opportunity to make my girls jealous. So even though I had never listened to their music before I jumped in the car to be serenaded by a boy band.
Having never heard their music before that night I was coming with a complete open mind. What is interesting to me is that most people (above the age of 16) who have never listened to them actually hate them. I had the same conversation with every person who found out I was going to the concert.
Person: "your going to the Jonas Brother's Concert. EWWWW! I hate them"
Surpirsed that they don't see the humor in it I would jokingly explained to them about why I was going and that I don't know anything about them.
Person: "Well I haven't heard any of their music either but.......(blah blah more hatred)
Firstly, why does anyone confess that they don't know anything about the thing that they apparently "hate". Thats just admitting your ignorance on the subject. No one wants to hear an emotional person talk about something they know nothing about. With every conversation it was like being blasted back to 8th grade. Why do people have to prove they cool by hating a boy band that is being marketed to jr highers? Who cares if a 19 year old hates them when they are ment to be for 13 year old?
That night as I sat back and watched the show. I was amazed. It was one of the best concerts have ever seen. When I went home I listened to their CDs. Their CDs were not nearly as good as the performance. Regardless, I got some of their songs and I am proud to say that I am a 20 year old Jonas Brothers Fan and that my favorite is Nick.
So to all those other uninformed people who hate them to prove that they aren't in 8th grade: have fun pretending to be cool as I rock my Jonas Brother t-shirt and lip synch to loud music in my room! PARTAY! PARTAY!
