Chi furono i criminali e spietati esecutori?Sanguinari antropofagi dell’amazzonia?Violenti e rozzi barbari delle steppe?Criminali estremisti musulmani?No… italiani …agli ordini di italianissimi comandanti di nome Badoglio e Graziani durante la conquista della Libia…

Chi documenta tali atrocita’? I Libici?… Il colonnello Muhammar Gheddafi?… no… storici e ricercatori italiani.

Il fatto, conosciuto in una discussione sul recente risarcimento fatto dal Governo italiano alla Libia, non mi ha colto del tutto impreparato in quanto, nel tempo, qualcosa era trapelato a proposito di quegli anni… ma la lettura di tali atrocita’ e massacri documentati e’ tutta un’altra cosa e fa rabbrividire.

Quello che invece mi ha sorpreso e’ il sapere che, a tutt’oggi, esiste un CENSURA di STATO su un’opera cinematografica riguardante la colonizzazione della Libia da parte dell’esercito italiano dell’epoca fascista.Ma come!… posso capire che oggi in Afghanistan ci sia la censura politico-militare per via della guerra in corso… ma per un film che documenta fatti ed episodi successi oltre 70 anni fa mi pare assurdo ed incredibile.Eppure la visione del film “The Lion of the Desert”, prodotto nel 1979 dal regista siriano-statunitense Mustafà Akkhad e presentato al Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Cannes con buon successo, è tuttora vietata dalla censura ministeriale italiana.

La grande interpretazione di Antony Quinn, nei panni dell’anziano capopopolo Omar Al Mokhtar, ed un cast di livello con Rod Steiger, Oliver Reed, Irene Papas, Raf Vallone e Gaetano Moschin fanno di questo film storico un opera emozionante e tragica, assolutamente da vedere (e giudicare).Prodotto in varie versioni DVD in diverse lingue (ma non italiano), oppure scaribabile in parte da internet:

Chi teme tali scene ed immagini basate sulla ricostruzione di fatti storici?Gli italianisti a tutti i costi che vedono offesa l’immagine stereotipata del soldato italico buono e simpatico portatore di civilta’, aiuto, democrazia e simpatia nel Mondo?Oppure politici e burocrati dello stato centralista che vedono i Popoli non credere piu’ ai loro proclami?Troppo tardi, la revisione del processo di unita’ italiana e’ ormai inarrestabile, sempre piu’ sotto il giudizio popolare, il verdetto del quale sara’ inappellabile.
