This week, weekly geeks asked for our favorite book quotes. I'm happy to oblige.
Geek points for knowing what book/series a quote came from, one more for knowing who said it.
#12: "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals." - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, JK Rowling
#11: "What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are." - The Magician's Nephew (Narnia #1), CS Lewis
#10: "It is our choices, Harry, that show us who we truly are, far more than our abilities." - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, JK Rowling
#9: "Nothing marks a man's character better than his attraction to intelligence." -Stone of Tears (Sword of Truth #2), Terry Goodkind
#8: "I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race - that rarely do I ever simply estimate it." -The Book Thief, Markus Zusak
#7: "If you were half as funny as you think you are, you'd be twice as funny as you are now." -City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1), Cassandra Clare
#6: "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." -Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, JK Rowling
#5: "Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens." -The Fellowship of the Ring (Lord of the Rings #1), JRR Tolkein
#4: "Now the trouble about trying to make yourself stupider than you really are is that you very often succeed." - The Magician's Nephew (Narnia #1), CS Lewis
#3: "People are stupid. They will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true."-Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth #1), Terry Goodkind
#2: "Every minute you spend with someone gives them a part of your life and takes part of theirs." -Matched, Allie Condie
#1: "It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart."-Mockingjay (Hunger Games #3), Suzanne Collins
And, lastly, this one isn't from a book, but is about books, and speaks my mind exactly: "A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest." -CS Lewis
You can substitute "young adult" or "women" or just about any other marginalize sub-sect of the human race in for "children" and that quote still holds true.
