Maybe I was wrong...

Earlier this week, I posted a fantasy cast for Bram Stoker's Dracula.  All of you, my wonderful readers, disagreed with one choice: Johnny Depp as Count Dracula. Nobody seems to disagree with my character analysis of Dracula:

"The immortal evil. The character who was based on Vlad the Impaler. The connoisseur, the intellect, the devious, villainous nobleman. He should be equal parts charming and creepy. Cultured and unnerving. Sophisticated and psychotic."

While it seems my reading of Dracula matches with everybody's vision of him, you all don't think that Johnny Depp fits the bill. Except Jess, who is practically my pop culture twin, so I don't know if that even counts.

Rob from The Third Strike has an excellent point: "[Depp's] strengths seem to me to be suited towards inventing/exploring new characters, more than "re-imagining" good ones" he then listed Depp's best and worst characters, and by golly, I think the man is right.

So, loyal readers, I will admit that maybe I was wrong. Maybe. But, you are going to have to prove it. I love Johnny Depp and thought Jack Sparrow was a perfectly respectable love interest for Elizabeth Swann and stand by my plea to see him as Count Dracula, unless you all can come up with somebody better. With so many people disagreeing with me, I am willing to bet there are several better ideas out there.

So, let's hear it: Who do YOU think would be the best Count Dracula if the movie were to ever be remade?

In the meantime, I will leave you with one parting glance of Depp's best work:

Please post your ideas in the comments- whether you agree with me or not!
