Day 20: Favorite Romance Book

I don't read a lot of "Romance" books.

I mean, nearly every book has a love story woven into it, especially since nearly everything I read is fiction, but "romance"? Not really my thing.

I'm not interested in the "bodice rippers" of the world- reading about other people having intimate moments with people who would really qualify as strangers just doesn't appeal to me.

I'm not really all that interested in the "sweet" romance novels- the ones that get turned into sappy, Hallmark Channel-type romantic comedies. Heck, I don't even really like romantic comedies. I list "When Harry Met Sally" as my favorite rom-com, and somehow having Billy Crystal and Princess Leia in it makes it way less chick-flicky in my opinion.

I guess my favorite love story would have to be Richard and Kahlan in the Sword of Truth series. They overcome insurmountable odds time and time again, and nothing enrages Richard like seeing Kahlan in danger. But, really, that series is high fantasy: it's 50% swordplay and fighting, 30% magic and folklore, 10% traveling around and 10% romance.

If that 10% counts... well, it's going to have to, because that's the best I've got.

A blogging friend of mine posted a bookish meme, after reading it on another blogging friend's site. I can't not participate! This post was written in response to the 30 Days of Books.
