Day 28: Favorite Title

I have a few titles that I think are just fabulous- though I have not yet read this book:

Eats, Shoots and Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation

I think the title to this book is hilarious. Mostly because I love, love, LOVE seeing egregious punctuation and spelling errors. I don't know why, but they are like little shots of adrenaline straight into my brain. Anybody from 20sb *might* remember an issue about "played" skirts getting "plaid" too much... or something to that effect...

I also think this book is awesome just because it inspired the following conversation among strangers on Goodreads:

Oh, and because it apparently needs clarifying: This is NOT my conversation. I would kill myself if I had made all those errors over and over again, had somebody point them out and then STILL continued to make the same errors. No thanks. I just saw this conversation, and I think it is hilarious.

Anyway. I break all kind of grammar "rules." I begin sentences with conjunctions, I split infinitives, I let participles dangle all day long and don't even start counting all the sentences ended with prepositions.

However, (see what I did there?)  it's the simple stuff that makes my hair curl. The whole you're/your, there/their/they're, its/it's, past/passed problem, compounded with the widespread difficulties with words that sound similar (you know: weary/wary, plaid/played, whatever) and an absolutely inability to spell the word "definitely" creates a vortex of grammatical errors that can no longer be ignored.

This book doesn't ignore them. I should read it. It has a good title.
