American actress and singer Hayden Panettiere

Hayden Leslie Panettiere is an American actress and singer. She came to professional prominence at the age of 10 with her portrayal of Sheryl Yoast in Disney's Remember the Titans, although for five years before that, Panettiere had held roles in two soap operas. She portrayed Sarah Roberts on One Life to Live (1994–1997), and Lizzie Spaulding on Guiding Light (1996–2000). Panettiere reached a wider audience with her starring role as cheerleader Claire Bennet on the NBC television series Heroes.

Mini Biodata

Born     Hayden Leslie Panettiere

August 21, 1989 (age 21)

Palisades, New York, United States

Occupation     Actress, singer, model

Years active     1994–present

Panettiere was born in and partly raised in Palisades, Rockland County, New York, the daughter of Lesley R. Vogel, a former soap opera actress, and Alan L. "Skip" Panettiere, a fire department lieutenant. Panettiere is of Italian descent, her surname meaning "baker" in Italian. She has one younger brother, fellow actor Jansen Panettiere. Although Panettiere attended South Orangetown Middle School in New York, she was educated at home from the 9th grade through high school. For now, Panettiere is postponing higher education in favor of an acting career.

Singing

Panettiere was nominated for a Grammy in 1999 for A Bug's Life Read-Along (2000). In 2004, she recorded a song entitled "My Hero Is You" with a video for the Disney Channel film she starred in, Tiger Cruise. The next year she recorded a song entitled "I Fly" for the Disney film Ice Princess in which she also co-starred. She recorded a song for the Hollywood Records compilation Girl Next (2006) and another song entitled "Go to Girl" for Girl Next 2 (2007). Also in 2007, She also recorded a cover for "Cruella De Vil" for DisneyMania 5, "Try" for the Bridge to Terabithia soundtrack and a ballad called "I Still Believe" for Cinderella III: A Twist in Time.

Panettiere's first single, "Wake Up Call", was digitally released on August 5, 2008. A clothing brand named Candie's announced that it was premiering an ad campaign for the single in late July. Similarly, Candie's would also provide additional promotion for the single with a television advertisement and a music video.

Activism

In 2007, Panettiere became an official supporter of Ronald McDonald House Charities and is a member of their celebrity board, called the Friends of RMHC.

On October 31, 2007, Panettiere joined with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to try to disrupt the annual dolphin hunt in Taiji, Wakayama, Japan. She was involved in a confrontation between Japanese fishermen and five other surfers from Australia and the United States (including former Home and Away star Isabel Lucas) of the group. The confrontation lasted more than 10 minutes before the surfers were forced to return to the beach, after which they left the country. Parts of the confrontation can be seen on the award-winning Sundance Film Festival documentary film, The Cove. The fishermen consider the condemnation as an attack on their culture.

Panettiere told E! News that an arrest warrant has been issued in Japan for her interference in the dolphin hunt, but her claim was later dismissed by the Japanese Fisheries Agency. In November 2007, she was awarded the "Compassion in Action Award" from the animal rights group PETA for her efforts to stop the dolphin hunt in Japan. She is also a vegetarian.

On January 28, 2008, Panettiere handed a letter of protest to the Norwegian ambassador in the United States arguing that Norway should stop its hunt for whales. She also delivered a letter to the Japanese ambassador calling for the end of Japan's hunting of whales. At a 2007 Greenpeace event in Anchorage, Alaska, Panettiere defended aboriginal whaling, saying that there is a difference between commercial whaling and the whaling practiced by aboriginal tribes in the United States.

In May 2008, Panettiere was involved in an eBay auction to benefit SaveTheWhalesAgain.com. The auction included tickets to a fundraising dinner hosted at the Hollywood restaurant Beso, owned by Eva Longoria, and a whale watching tour, with Panettiere, off the coast of Santa Barbara. The same month, during an interview with Teen Vogue, Hayden explained how her fame gives her a platform for her activism: "The show [Heroes] put me in a place to speak for things that I'm passionate about."

In October 2008, Panettiere delved into the presidential election, releasing a public service announcement through the website Funny or Die. In this video Panettiere mocked Republican candidate John McCain for his age and temper. She subsequently made clear her intention to vote for Barack Obama, and urged other young people to vote.

Panettiere also appeared in a public service announcement with DC Shadow Senator Paul Strauss endorsing voting rights for the District of Columbia.

Panettiere is a teen ambassador for the Candie's Foundation, whose mission is to fight teen pregnancy. On May 6, 2009, she participated in a town hall meeting in New York City alongside Bristol Palin and Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza on the issue of teen pregnancy.

Their divorce was finalized on June 9, 2010. On December 20, 2010, Twain's manager confirmed that Twain was engaged to Swiss business executive Frederic Thiebaud, the ex-husband of Marie-Anne Thiebaud. According to the study, beauty is a product of having as many features as close to the average measurement for each feature as possible. Shania Twain was noted in a BBC News article concerning the study due to the fact that her face is a close approximation to the ideal measurements found by the study.

Music Monday on Empty Streets: Boa - Energetic

I was going through one of the appliance centers here in Makati and something aside from the awesome Samsung flat screen tv was the music video of a KPop singer named BOA. It reminded me of my party days where me and my peeps would hit the dance floor and bust our moves. I guess I am missing the party scene a bit.

But to help you understand why I was so caught by her video here she is with Energetic:

Music Monday On Empty Streets: Jesse McCartney

I have gotten a lot of emails from my friends to feature an artist that has gotten a lot of attention not only because of his good looks but because of his family name. It is because of the name McCartney that people have been watching to see what musical creations this talented youth will be coming up with next.

Here is a little bit of info about Jesse McCartney:
Jesse Abraham Arthur McCartney was born April 9, 1987 to Scot and Ginger McCartney. He was two younger siblings Lea Joyce McCartney and Timothy (Timmy) Glover Mark McCartney. Jesse lives in Ardsley, New York where he attends the public school systems. He graduated from Ardsley High School on June 22, 2005.

Jesse realized his love for singing and acting from doing community plays. He was in Oliver (1994), The King and I (1995 and 1997), A Christmas Carol (1998) and Salute to Broadway (2002). At the same time he was also part of the singing group Sugar Beats. In 1998 Jesse got the part of Adam Chandler Jr. on the show All My Children. He stayed on the show from 1998-2001 when they decided to age Jr. By then he had auditioned for a boy band and he was one of the 5 to get picked out of 500 that showed up and became 1/5 of Dream Street, who was signed to Edel Entertainment. Their first album was released July 10, 2001. The band lasted May 1999 until August 2002. The album went gold, but in 2002 they split due to a lawsuit concerning the producers. Jesse then decided to go solo. Sugar Beats Producers Sherry Kondor and Bonnie Gallanter, along with Andrew Gold and Ginger McCartney then started JumpAhead Productions and signed him. Jesse then made an EP Called JMac which contained the songs "Beautiful Soul," "Don't You," and "Why Don't You Kiss Her." The EP was released July 22, 2003. He toured for a while with his band, consisting of Dillon Konder (lead guitar), Pete Chema (bass guitar), Katie Spencer (keyboards and background vocals), Sharisse Francisco and Karina LaGravinesse (both on background vocals). Music Monday on Empty Streets: Nelly Furtado

I was grooving and and dancing to her tunes when I first heard her songs. It started with I am like a bird and then it was hit after hit. It was quite interesting to know also that not only was she a beautiful girl with a very distinctive voice, she has a lot of smarts too and has openly stated that she wants to be a very influential political leader of her country one day.

Here are more things about Nelly Furtado:
Nelly Kim Furtado, born December 2, 1978, is a Portuguese-Canadian singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. She has sold over 18 million albums worldwide, and currently resides in Toronto. Furtado grew up in Victoria, BC, Canada.

Furtado came to fame in 2000 with the release of her debut album Whoa, Nelly!, which featured her breakthrough Grammy Award-winning single "I'm Like a Bird". After becoming a mother and releasing the less commercially successful Folklore (2003), she returned to prominence in 2006 with the release of Loose and its hit singles "Promiscuous", "Maneater", "All Good Things (Come to an End)" and "Say It Right".

Furtado is known for experimenting with different instruments, sounds, genres, vocal styles, and languages. This diversity has been influenced by her wide-ranging musical taste and her interest in different cultures.

Music Monday on Empty Streets: Xfactor - Danyl Johnson wows Simon

The X Factor: 27-year-old teacher Danyl has a passion for singing and manages to completely own the stage in an incredible first audition! And to tell you the truth this is the first time I have ever seen anyone during the auditions where Simon says something really really good to the candidate. :) That says a lot about Danyl Johnson as a performer and a singer. :)

However, this rising star is already in the juicy section of the E! News industry especially when he was interviewed about how he was flirting with the judges during his performance.

Danyl Johnson has revealed that he swings BOTH ways, admitting: "I've dated men AND women."

The 27-year-old bisexual - who blew the judges away with his performance during last night's opening show - told News of the World: "I am a massive flirt.

"I wouldn't rule out someone just because of their gender."

Danyl, received a standing ovation for his version of Beatles classic With A Little Help From My Friends - and is already in the running to WIN the hit ITV1 talent show.

But his new legion of lady fans will be stunned to learn that the handsome teacher is attracted to ALL the X-Factor judges.

They're all good-looking! Simon and Louis are very nice guys. Both Dannii and Cheryl are beautiful

He reckons Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh are every bit as appealing as the lovely Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue!

"They're all good-looking," said Danyl. "Simon and Louis and very nice.

"Between them I would pick Simon though - because he has a feisty attitude.

"I would love to be around someone like that. Even his hair and his clothes are just fine to me."

But Danyl, from Reading, went on to admit that he's been unlucky in love in the past.

He said: "I haven't been in that many relationships, only about four. It's been a year since I was last with someone - that's horrible!

"I hate boxes, so I don't like to call myself gay, straight or bisexual. But yeah, I'll admit that I have dated men.

With that being said let us see how this star did it through this exclusive coverage of that episode.

Music Monday on Empty Streets: Paradiso Girls

I was watching MTV the other day and a girl group that at first I thought was the Pussycat Dolls was the group called Paradiso Girls. Out of curiosity I figured it would be nice to do a little research about them.

Here are the things that I have found out about them thus far - The Paradiso Girls is a girl group consisting of 5 members from different countries; Chelsea Korka from United States, Aria from France, Lauren Bennett from United Kingdom, Kelly Beckett from Barbados and Shar Mae Amor from Philippines. They are currently signed to Will.i.am music group/Interscope Records. Their debut single "Patron Tequila" featuring Lil’ Jon and Eve was released on May 12, 2009, and has reached position 3 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play. Their debut album Crazy Horse is expected to be released in October as confirmed by member Aria on twitter.

Two years in development, Paradiso Girls isn’t your stereotypical girl group. Reflecting music’s increasingly global reach, each member of this talented quintet—Aria, Chelsea, Kelly, Lauren and Shar—hails from a different country: Barbados, England, France, Philippines, and the U.S. Beyond this multicultural twist, the Paradiso Girls boast three lead singers, a rapper and a DJ.

It’s the natural chemistry emanating from this pairing that is the Los Angeles-based group’s secret weapon. Playing simultaneously to their distinct personalities and cultural backgrounds, Paradiso Girls break the industry’s cookie-cutter mold with an edgy, left-of-center mix of pop, rock, R&B and hip-hop.

Daring yet tongue-in-cheek lead single “Patron Tequila” is proof positive of Paradiso Girls’ combustible energy. The Polow da Don-produced club jam centers around a girls’ night out getting drunk on margaritas—with color commentary provided by featured guest rappers Lil’ Jon and Eve. The song is already generating buzz in the clubs.

The same push-the-envelope vibe courses throughout Paradiso Girls’ self-titled debut album. In addition to Polow da Don, the project enlists such maverick, game-changing songwriter/producers as Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo, Christopher “Tricky” Stewart, The-Dream, Sean Garrett, Fernando Garibay and Black Eyed Peas mastermind will.i.am. Tailored to the ladies’ talents and personalities as well as their kinetic energy, each song ultimately shapes an album that doubles as a unique tribute to musical sisterhood.

Female anthem “Who’s My Bitch,” for instance, draws from French composer Georges Bizet’s classical gem “Carmen” as producer Garibay channels the essence of the Paradiso Girls. Laying irreverent lyrics—“I’m not your bitch / I’m not your ho”—against such an unexpected backdrop sparks a lightning bolt realization: Paradiso Girls definitely isn’t your ordinary girl group.

Mentor will.i.am drives home that point on the two tracks he wrote and produced, “Bad Man” and "What I like.” On the latter, the Grammy-winning artist/producer taps into the dance/electro club energy on which Paradiso Girls thrive.

Irreverence once again comes into play on the Garibay and Garrett-produced “Unpredictable.” On this fast-paced track, the ladies sassily intone: “You’re just so unpredictable / I’m so trying to get to you /You just don’t wanna behave.” The ladies are just at skillful at slowing the pace. On “Pop,” producer Cee-Lo tempers the ladies’ sensuality with just the right amount of wit and humor, while Garibay brings an atmospheric feel to the moving love ballad “Just Friends.”

Friendship is another key factor powering Paradiso Girls. Aria was a performer living in France when she met Shar (Philippines), Kelly (Barbados) and Lauren (England). The foursome decided to form a group. Six months later they met Chelsea (U.S.) and the quartet became a quintet. Relocating to Los Angeles, the five ladies began living together as they practiced and then began recording songs for their upcoming album.

That bond—coupled with talent and energy—is what will help Paradiso Girls write the next chapter in girl group history.

“We’re having fun just being ourselves, and that’s our main message,” says member Lauren. “We may come from different parts of the world with different upbringings, but we’ve all come together as one: Paradiso Girls.”

Not much about the group as of yet, but soon am sure there shall be more, for now let me introduce to you their debut single that prompted me to write about them in the first place :)

Since this month I have featured a lot of things that dealt with a Japanese theme, it was only fitting to feature a Japanese Singer. Hikaru Utada 宇多田 ヒカル Utada Hikaru, better known by her stage name Utada in America and Europe, and also known by her fans as Hikki, is a Japanese American singer-songwriter, arranger, and record producer.

Before her major debut with her album First Love (1999), she sold several records with mediocre success. After First Love's release, which went on to become the best-selling album in Oricon's recent history, Utada would go on to have three of her Japanese studio albums rank in Top 10 best-selling albums ever in Japan (#1, #4, #8) and an overall six of her albums, two English-language and one compilation, thus far in her career charting within the 275 Best-Selling Japanese albums list.

Utada currently has 12 number-one singles to date on the Oricon Singles chart, with two notable record achievements for a female solo or group artist: 5 of them being million-sellers and 4 placing in the Top 100 All-Time Best-selling Singles. Music Monday on Empty Streets: Chris Daughtry

Last week while I was browsing through my peep's Music Monday, I saw an article on Chris Daughtry singing Lady Gaga's Poker Face and was very impressed with his rendition. So I was compelled to do a little more research on this amazing singer and found a lot of interesting facts about him.

Here are the things that I have found:

Christopher Adam "Chris" Daughtry (born December 26, 1979) is an American rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. He was the fourth-place finalist on the highly publicized fifth season of American Idol, eliminated from the competition on May 10, 2006. He is the lead vocalist and guitarist of the alternative rock band Daughtry.

After his fallout from Idol, his band was given a record deal by RCA Records. Their self-titled debut album sold more than 1 million copies after just 5 weeks of release, becoming the fastest selling debut rock album in history. In its ninth week of release, the album reached number one on the Billboard charts. Chris Daughtry is now the third most successful American Idol contestant in terms of record sales, only behind Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood who both won their respective seasons. He is the most successful contestant, in terms of record sales, from his season and the most successful non-winner or non-runner up. At the 50th Grammy Awards, the band was nominated for Best Rock Song for "It's Not Over".

Aside from that here are some quick facts to further entice you to listen some more :)

Music Monday on Empty Streets: Moony

Whenever I feel a bit down or depressed there are just some songs and vocalists that can pick you right up and feel good about yourself. Moony is one of those singers that has that effect on me and apparently continues to do so even till now.

Monica Bragato aka Moony is a musician from Italy known for the many dance tracks coming from her debut album Lifestories. Among the notable singles from the album are "Dove (I'll Be Loving You)", "Acrobats", and "This Is Your Life".

Raised in Venice, Moony was first noticed singing in the Venetian club scene and was asked to provide vocals for a number of songs by DJ and producer Cristiano Spiller. The first single was "Positive", in 1998, sampled from the "Physical", song of Olivia Newton-John, and the second single with Spiller was "Batucada" (1999). She also features in the project Angel Moon in the song "He's All I Want", released in 1998. Her first collaboration was "Point of View" as part of the group DB Boulevard. That song became popular across the European dance music scene and earned DB Boulevard the distinction of being the first Italian music group to be nominated in the MTV Europe Music Awards. From there on, she launched her solo career by producing her debut album Lifestories, which was released in 2003.

In June 2006, Moony released a new single titled "For Your Love".

In July 2008, Moony released a new single titled "I Don't Know Why".

Here is her single Flying away - The music video touched my heart :)
